New Savage Build Ideas

So I find myself in possession of a new Savage 10 action (308 bolt face) and can't decide what I want to do with it. I've thought about building a 250 Savage with magnum sporter contour barrel in 1-7.5 twist to use a dual purpose rig. ( walking varminter/ Whitetail )
I've also thought about a fast twist 22-250 because I've never own a 22-250.
Feel free to comment with suggestions.

Another vote for a fast twist .22-250. With proper bullets it will do anything the 250 Sav. will do and make a good walking varminter/deer rifle.

22 Creedmoor barrel should arrive tomorrow or Thursday. Brass, dies, bullets, scope mount, etc should be here Thursday as well. Hopefully everything will arrive around the same time and I'll be posting up pictures soon

I ended up doing my first (only) bolt action build, with a Savage action and 308 bolt-face. Made a 7mm-08 for deer and elk, with a Shilen barrel and Timney trigger. Turned out well, shoots excellent, it was a bit heavier than I realized it would be, for a walk-around gun. but it's okay. If I had another action lying around, I think a 22-250 AI would be a hoot!

Yeah, my 22 Creedmoor is a bit on the heavy side as well, but here in Ohio, we don't walk very far between ground hog mounds, lol

Well the 22 Creedmoor build was a success ( see attached photo), unfortunately I cannot upload a photo due to file size restrictions.
Build Notes:
Savage 10 ( tactical action) with AI bottom metal and a ridiculously over sized bolt handle.
Installed Savage Target trigger ( red blade, set at 1#)
Factory Accustock ( for now)
Shilen 1-8 twist cut to 24" standard SAMMI chamber.
Vortex Viper 4-16 scope ( older model I had on hand)

Nice looking build! (y) While most of my long guns wear a wooden stock with a few laminates also thrown in, I could be easily convinced to consider another stock option like the one pictured. The varmints in Ohio are in for some serious trouble.

Aside from this rifle, the only other rifle I have with a non wood stock is a Smith&Wesson 1854. I too prefer well figured walnut over synthetic stocks.

Now you are talking my language! In addition to the bolt action rifles, that is also a nice-looking lever action chambered in 223. I must admit, sadly, I do not possess a lever action rifle but by the looks of the one you have, it looks to be a nice one! Is it a rifle you also take along while pursuing varmints in OH?

It will be this year.... I picked it up in Oct, and had to send it back to Henry. They rebarreled it, and sent a test target. Looks like it could be a shooter once I find a load it likes ( factory target was 1.1" with Federal 62gr. FMJs). They also did some trigger work on it and it now breaks at 2.5 pounds.
