13tw 20 cal

It seems years ago 13tw barrels were common.
What cartridges were they chambered in and what bullets were you using?

Could a 12tw 13tw be used for a 20 Akley Hornet, or would it be better in a bigger cartridge for more speed.
Also what temps and elevations were you using the 13tw barrel in?

Would it work at just above sea level with temps around 50-68F?

Thanks
Kiwi

Sorry I meant to ask if a 13tw could be used for a 20 ackley Hornet

My 13 twist rifle was built when that's all there was and I shot 33 vmax bullets at coyotes. It did very well and was chambered in 20AR a longer bodied 20 Tac. I was at 6000' elevation and later used 40 Bergers and they killed coyotes very well too. I would think your 20 hornet at sea level with 32s will work very well. Gonna try the new 36 in it and now that I am at sea level or close will see how it works.

Thanks Matt.
I wasn't aware that the 13tw was the only thing available at one time

With choices these days I would do an 11tw, but you could use a12.
Sorry for the misleading question in my original post, I have corrected the post.

I bought a few barrels a number of years ago and when I was looking through them I found one is a 13tw Bartlien so feel the cheaper option is to use it either for a small 20 or a big 20cal.
Since I had picked up from a thread where 13tw were "the" option many years ago I thought asking the question about people's real world experience with the 13tw might be a good thing to do.
