Blast from the past....

While going through my old magazine stash, I came across an old ad from July 1982 when I was doing some work with CCI. Their photographer came out here along with Don Anderson of CCI for some ground squirrels and rockchuck fun. We had a great time of it.

The pic below was shot locally here and used as an ad in many of the gun magazines at the time, aimed at varmint shooters. That's yours truly in the straw hat with my Sako Vixen L461 223 posing for the camera at the request of the photographer.

Still have the rifle in the safe, and one of the large rockchucks I shot that week with it was mounted by Don when he returned to Idaho, and it resided in the CCI/Speer lobby on display for years. I have no idea if it's still there.

Boy, 1982 sure seems like a very long time ago!

Nice nostalgic ad! I just got my hunting license and was learning to handload. I also got to see "The Who" that year at the L.A. Coliseum.
Wow Eric.....now I really feel old!

In my vinyl collection, I've got that album. That era produced some iconic classic rock for sure. Just a few years prior (1975), I had found the joy of ground squirrel and rockchuck shooting that continues to this day. "The most fun you can have with a rifle!" :)
