I have no connection to the seller, other than a recent purchase off Gun Broker of another rifle.
I've been wondering when I might see these. These belonged to my long time buddy. I helped his wife sell these thru an auction house. Harren , the gunsmith, also does all my guns. All guns were cut with my reamers. The 20 and 22 Jav Imp are my design from probably 20+ years ago. These guns were used but not abused. They also shot very good as does all the guns gunsmith by Doc Ed. There was Neil Jones dies and formed brass that went with this guns. I hope they find a good home.

That's interesting. Did you have any rifles built for yourself that you still have?

Did you happen to know about his Bob Green made CZ 527 chambered in .22 Ackley Hornet? I bought that from the same seller, along with dies (Redding and Jones), ammo and brass. I'd love to know how he used it and how he decided on the Improved Hornet.

Yes I still have some. My buddy had over 140 guns, I hate to say I don't remember the 527. When we hunted P.D. and squirrels he always had the Bat 17 A. Hornet with him. The above 527 has a Calhoon S.S. mag. It shows the milled off front extension kind of like what Roy B. once offered. It's easier on the hand when carrying it. I can't see but when I did mine I thinned the thickness of the trigger bow and filed the front back so it looked like a standard trigger guard. I also shorten the mag release a little. Of course I used my stock design on all my CZ 527. If your rifle was chambered by Bob Green, it will be done right. Bob is an excellent gunsmith. (Bench rest gunsmith). He was also Jim Saubier gunsmith. The reamer I have for the 17 Ack Hornet was speced by Dan C. for Winchester brass. I once loaned Bob G. my reamer but can't remember why. Bob came to all our Bench Rest matches at Thurmont where I cooked for the club matches.

I seem to remember some very good seafood in Nebraska of all places or was that Wyoming, either way it was rare to enjoy such great seafood so far west. Thanks Ray.
P.S. I shouldn't have looked at this thread, now im hungry for a beautiful 17 Ackley Hornet, not a bad price at all....

Was just thinking how much this web page has rekindled my great memories of the heyday of small calibers. I've recently found my 20br brass and started trimming it to 1.520" Kevin this time im gonna remember my earmuffs. 😀
Matt
Kevin I remember you showing me that Martini you got from your friend. The picture doesn't do it justice, it's a drop dead beautiful rifle, it's everything a Martini should be! Matt that was in Nebr at the Hornady PD shoots. The Hornady shoots developed out of the the first Saubier P.D. hunts in 2004 that Gary W. set up in Grand Island. He brought Buffalo steaks for everyone. When we started the Hornady PD shoots I brought jumbo shrimp to carry on Gary's leade.. I retired in 04 and bought 4 Coopers as a happy retirement to me gift just for the Saubier hunt. Sadly my 17M4 and 17 Ack Hornet guns simply would not shoot . I ended up only having the 20 Tac and 221 ready. I threw in a 223 Ack Imp and 22-250 Ackley which got me friendly roasted for having them at a small caliber hunt.
