Is that a Winslow rifle? I had one in .243 several years ago.
Rider.......

Nope.......that is an O'Brien Rifle Co rifle. It was Vern O'Brien's Hultgren Grade.......with the 18" Atkinson & Marquart barrel on a Sako L461 action.......sitting in stockwork by Nils Hultgren.

Here's a Winslow Arms 17-222........a Sako L461 barrelled action in stockwork also by Hultgren.

actually, Kenny i moved from the New Mexico desert to the Ozarks and back to NM. give me lemons an i will make lemonade 98% of the time. had a great time hunting here in nm (coyotes, fox, oryx, aoudads bob cat, some prairie dogs, and great hunting in Missouri (deer, groundhogs, armadillo's.
the reason we moved back to nm was the better half parents were getting older and she wanted to spend more time with them.
the bad thing about moving back to nm was rabbit fever had decimated the rabbit population so a lot less targets of opportunity.
Ozarks, rain, ticks, chiggers, high humidity, ice storms, tornados on the positive side, good neighbors, green, good fishing, there are actual curves in the roads, cost of living was lower. better gun laws.
New Mexico dry, consistent weather, lots of public land, mountains 1 hour away, fox and coyote hunting, taxes are higher, and a sawed-off tyrant governor that is crap.

I got introduced to sage rat shooting, and my buddy who brought me out had a Savage in 17 Hornet, while I had a CZ 455 in 22 LR and a 5.56. The 22 LR was too little, and the 5.56 was too much for the rat patch, so I got a Savage 17 Winchester Super Mag, and dang! That's a really accurate rifle. Eventually I ended up changing barrels in my CZ to a 17 HMR, and also got a CZ 527 in 17 Hornet, and those both are super accurate.

Loading for the 17 Hornet was a new challenge, had to upgrade my scale, and so on, but I'm amazed at the accuracy. My main rat gun is a 20 Vartarg, so I am resisting the temptation to get a 17 Mach IV or Fireball.

Sorry for the late reply. That pic was taken a couple years ago while hunting in Texas. Texas still has a bunch of grey fox but down there the red fox is almost non-existent. Have seen quite a few kit fox in deep west Texas though.
I shot that gray fox way back in the early 1960's here in SE Iowa.
