Favorite rimfire

So of the rimfires out there whats your go to cartridge.

The 17hmr seems to be one of the best for varmints imo.
Just got a Ruger single six in 17hmr. Really fun to shoot.

Then the good old 22lr is a great backup rifle or pistol even.
Think I've probably shot thousands of them in SD on Prarie dogs over the years.

I love the .17HMR but I'm starting to get real attached to my CZ in .22 magnum

17HMR for me. Fast and flat is what I like. 17WSM might be a better cartridge but it will need better choices of rifles and ammo to get my attention.

Got a b-mag in 17wsm, shoots fine but the action is terrible design.
Now the Ruger 77 in 17wsm is sweet. But yes not enough choices in ammo.

Love my savage 17hmr but I’m growing real fond of a savage I just put together in 17 hm2. In my opinion the ultimate squirrel caliber. Also have a vudoo in 22lr and it shoots lights out. I guess I’m saying I like them all.

I spent a few of my early years back east and loved hunting squirrels. When the HM2 came out I figured it to be the ultimate squirrel cartridge. You have pretty much confirmed that!

I have a retired tricked out Savage 93 .17HMR and it is the most accurate rifle I have ever owned. My other rifles, including my two .17 WSM rifles, are very accurate. My HMR is a righthand model with a custom lefthand stock and one inch longer than the factory stock. Trigger has a Basix kit installed and trigger set on 12 OZ. It shoots one hole groups at 100 meters. I traded some of my knife work for the stock.

I think the 5mm Remington Rimfire Magnum is probably my favorite, but the .17WSM and the .17HM2 are very close behind!

I had a TC barrel made for 5mm rem rimfire so I can shot both the rim and center fire out of it.
I also built a Savage 93 in 5mm remington rimfire. It's a fun cartridge.

I have many fine 22 LR, 22 WMR, 17 HMR and 17 WSM, but the 17 HM2 is my favorite

Both of my Savage .17 WSM rifles are out of action. My BMAG is waiting for new ejector parts and my A17 is going back to the factory for repair because I can't get the shroud to release so I can clean the rifle.

My Savage A17 Sporter .17 WSM worked good for this groundhog.

And my Savage BMAG .17 WSM did its job, my Iowa daily legal limit of six.
