Favorite rimfire

I have a tricked-out Savage 93 .17 HMR, a Savage BMAG .17 WSM, and a Savage A17 Sporter .17 WSM. My two .17 WSMs have broken down and I recently got the BMAG ejector fixed and the A17 goes back to the factory as soon as I receive the Savage shipping label. I am unable to remove the shroud so as to remove the bolt for cleaning.

I waited more than two years for the ordered A17 to arrive. I was getting really disgusted so I asked the store owner to try a different jobber. That must have happened because I received the rifle two weeks later.

But I am now back in action with my BMAG. 😁

My Savage A17 Sporter and a rabbit. What really got me fired up and getting .17 WSM rifles was well known and highly respected Eric Mayer.

My tricked-out Savage 93 .17 HMR, custom lefthand stock for righthand rifle and Basix sear kit installed with the trigger set on 12 OZ. It shoots one hole groups at 100 meters, witnessed. I traded some of my custom knife shop work for the stock.

Think anschutz have left hand range of rimfire rifles.
I always wanted a L/H match 54 sporter, but they didn't make any in rimfire, just a L/H Match 54 22 Hornet
From memory there have been a couple Match 54 rimfires built from the L/H single shot 19 series target rifle, I do remember reading about these.

There have been others available, CZ 452, Savage, Cooper, Anschutz Match 64, Kimber, Tikka?? plus some customs

Since the shipping label from Savage for my Savage A17 .17 WSM has not shown up after several weeks, I called them and they had no record of it. :poop: So we went through the whole dang process again to have them send my shipping label. The nice lady on the phone said about 5 days waiting on my end.
Luckily, my Savage BMAG .17 WSM is up and running after repair of the ejector, so hunting is on again.

Favorite rimfires?

Two (maybe three) for me, Anschutz M1715 HB in 17HMR for squirrels off the bench or rockchucks in the sage and junipers.

For 'drive-by' shooting sage rats on the ranch property out the truck window w/window bag, my 10-22 with all Volq internals, 16.5" Douglas air-guaged barrel and full accuracy treatment by Clark Custom in a Boyd's T/H stock is a most-used favorite.

When I want a lighter option, it's my "lite" 10-22, all Volq internals, Accu-Flite carbon wrapped SS barrel in a Lone Wolf synthetic stock for long walkabouts. All my rifles wear a Leupold of one flavor or another.

I go through many bricks of both WW Power Point HP's and CCI Mini Mag HP's every spring on sage rats here. Here's a peek at the truck floor after a good morning driving the two-tracks on the ranch for drive-by shooting of Skippy and his pals:

This is why we buy our 22LR HP ammo in bulk cases. Don't ask about the dashboard heater/defroster truck vents though.....

I would have to say my Savage B-Mag in 17 WSM is my favorite, as it's just soooo accurate! I got the heavy stainless barrel version, thumbhole stock, and the bolt truly does suck, but the guns shoots so well, I forgive it for that part.

This was the first rifle I did bedding on the action, and my first test shots after the bedding showed its true potential! 3 shots .07" group.

My second favorite rimfire is my CZ 455, which I swapped out the 22LR barrel for an OEM CZ 17 HMR fluted barrel, and it's a real tight shooter now, great for sage rats!

I ended up getting a Savage A17 in 17 HMR, and put that into a Boyd's thumbhole stock, and it looks better than it shoots.

Lastly, I had to build a sweet Ruger 10-22, put it in a custom stock, added Volquartsen trigger and KIDD 18" fluted barrel, and it's a very nice shooter! But, it's so pretty, I am afraid to scratch it.
