parted the hair on the top of his head this morning. my yode was about 175 yards out and was not going to come any closer. i waited till he was holding his head still to take the shot. not as hard shot unless your rifle is sighted in 2" high at 100 yards. (17 Mach IV) the 20 gr vmax is traveling at 4089 fps, middle of the head shot leaves little room for error. with the bullet climbing to 2.75" high at 175 yds it just parted his hair. needless to say i am out of practice and i will lower the poi to 1.25" at 100.

Might need to zero at a 100 and get some turret tags for quick acquisition.

I hit a strand of barbed wire once and the coyote just looked at me and mumbled something about a dumb ass 😉
If you shoot thru barbed wire fencing long enough, sooner or later you will it a wire. The first time I did this (yes, it's now happened THREE times!) I was shooting a 17Hornet and I was set up on a prairie dog town. The target of opportunity was a little over 200 yards away and I could tell the bottom wire strand was between me and the prairie dog. I thought to myself, hmmmm, I doubt a little 20 grain 17 caliber bullet would hit the wire. WRONG! At first, I couldn't believe it but after walking up to the fence I took a look and, yep, the wire had been hit. Unbelievable! 🫣 Luckily, I was able to scrounge up several strands of discarded barbed wire laying on the ground nearby and I was able to mend the fence.

If there was a $1,000,000 prize being offered for one lucky individual to sever a strand of barbed wire fencing, I'd likely burn up a barrel and never be able to collect the prize money. :ROFLMAO:
