On Accurate shooter is the page about .17 Calibers.
It says the article was republished from Varmint Hunter Magazine see here
I was wondering who wrote the article as there is no name listed.
I wasn't sure if Dick wrote the whole article or just part of it.
It sort of read as maybe more than one article on the website, just not sure
Was the whole bit in VHA magazine?

Yes, it was written by Dick Cundiff for the VHM. I have every copy and refer to them often as no other current magazine has anywhere near the content TVHM had during it's run. They covered the .17's more than any newsttand rag ever did.
Not relevant to this discussion, but my .17's are the 17M4 and the mighty little 17HMR. That will change if/when I come across a nice rifle chambered for the 17HH. I continue to be amazed at the field performance the little HMR displays every time I have mine out for ground squirrels or even rockchucks, so a 17HH seems like a logical next choice. (Notice we make all our choices for a new rifle "logical"?)
As we're all "visually oriented", a snapshot of my Anschutz 1715HB 17HMR with some rockchucks from a local ranch near home.
Rick i loved the 17HMR when they first came out the ammo being 7.99 a box of 50 but after a couple years the ammo kept going up I sold mine and bought another 527 hornet boltface and built another 17 badger its a perfect efficient 17 cal.

Sherm, I'd love to be able to buy a CZ 527 with any small caliber boltface. IF any were available. Alas, now they're getting like chicken lips to find, and when found, the prices are getting outright silly. You're fortunate to have bought one when you could.
I cruise the local pawnshops here, as you never know what treasure might turn up. If I see a 527 17HH, it WILL find a new home right here, right now.
I agree Rick its a shame they don't make the 527 anymore.
I actually have 3-527 hornet boltface on 17 badgers.
My very first 17 Badger I built was on a 700 223 bolt that's bushed to Hornet and sako extractor installed.
A contender would be an option if your a fan, ive been around a 17Ackley hornet on one and that thing is a laser.
You've got a nice selection of rat rifles there, Sherm.
Never been a fan of Contenders, don't like them for the break-action for bench shooting, which is 90% of what I do for rats.
I had a Ruger No.3 I restocked and rebarrelled to 17AH and shot it for two years. Great little performer, but as I shoot my bolt guns much more, sold it to a friend in CA two years ago.
If I come across a CZ527 in 17HH at a fair price, it WILL come home with me. Can't say why, just 'cuz, and having factory ammo &brass available is another factor.
