17 javelina

Traded into an xp-100 in 17 javelina. Was planning on building one anyways. Haven't measured the twist yet. Hopefully its a 9t. If it doesnt shoot I have another barrel I could fit to it. Need to build a stock for it

Excellent find Aaron! I used to shoot coyotes with mine using the Kindler 27, I felt that it was the perfect relationship between bore,capacity, and horsepower. It was a 700 I bought from Al Nyhus many moons ago. Looking forward to seeing it done.

Mike Bryant just got mine chambered I won't be home untill March 13th so ill be doing a bedding job on the stock and load development after that.
I do have a 9tw and 20 and 25 grain bullets to try, to bad Chans 30gr. bullets aren't available

I wish they were all still available, Nagels, Kindlers, bergers, etc. Ive got some 25s I plan on shooting. Mostly hornady 25gr hp. I do have others I could use.

My 17 Javalina reamer that Mike Bryant used is a no turn .205 nk that he has, my brass i made is from LC223

Im ok with turning necks. This one wont be a big enough volume to worry about.

Well I just put my barreled action in the factory Walnut 700SA stock with Marine tex. Hopefully weather gets better and I can get a few rounds down it.

How'd I miss a 17 Javelina thread??
Here's my old 40XBR 17 Javelina......before its rebuild......after about 4000 rounds.....and 7 inches of missing rifling.

Put a couple rounds through the barrel to break in the throat it looks like it's a .204 nk chamber and my loaded rounds are .203 so I'm turning my brass to a .201 loaded for .003 total clearance.

My pictured 17 Javelina has a 0.196" tight neck.
The last batch of cases were prepped to give a 0.1954" loaded round neck diameter...........aka a "fitted neck"(no case resizing required during reloading).
I also fitted the case length to the chamber MLS(aka the mean little shoulder).
Haven't had the chance to test everything thoroughly........packed away.
Bottom line.......NOT for the faint of heart.

Its about a 40% to 80% clean up on the brass so not bad.

Not bad for the very first load I shot down the 17 Javalina nothing stellar but not bad.
18.8 and 18.9 opened up bigger those are tge only 3 shot groups ive ran down it.
These were with 8208 next im gonna put 3- 3 shot ones of H4895 give me an idea what powder and the blue is subsiding so throat is getting broke in so after the 9 4895 rounds the CM barrel is going to get cleaned really good then off to Nitride my Pac- Nor CM 20VT turned out well doing the same thjng

That is 4 shots the bottom hole is 2 shots one is a clean bore shot.
