Varmint pistols

Let's see your favorite varmint pistols.
I have various T/C pistols but my Competitor corp pistols are my favorite.
I have one in 243 and 223.
I do have extra barrels in 308, 7-08 and 357/44 BD.
My farthest shot with the 223 is right at 448 yards.
Please tell me more about your 357/44 bd. Im torn on doing one of those vs 357max

Well they seem aboot the same in power. Maybe the max has an edge on speed but as far as availability of brass. 44 mag is easy to find and no special dies are needed but a FL size die to form them and no trimming. Max brass can be hard or expensive to acquire.

Anything chambered in 357 mag can be made into 357/44BD.
Ive always thought aboot making a 357/445SM.

Heres a good article on the B&D.

This 1986 XP-100 .223 Varmint Special is my only single shot. A friend bought it new and put less than 150 rounds through it.
I bought an unfinished laminate stock and bedded it.

You bedded it with the trigger installed? Never done it that way. Normally I'll just put plasticine in the trigger areas of the stock to keep bedding out.

Yes I did, the reason being the trigger is so crisp. The trigger adjustments are factory sealed with a hard-set epoxy and I didn't want anything to change.

It breaks at 1.75lbs with zero creep, but feels more like 1lb. Basically, I didn't want to risk compromising one of the best factory triggers I've ever felt.

That is some pretty slick enabling right there
Here is the sku# Rick, definitely not as cool as yours. Ergo the safe lock and 8 shot cylinder. Looking forward to finding an errant chuck to test it's mettle. Hope to find a six shooter one day to match my wonderful 617,wished I'd bought more of them when they were more readily available.

Matt, that's tempting, like the 8-shot capacity, but the 'Hillary Hole' is a non-starter for me. What an abomination! It ruins the overall aesthetics of a nice revolver and screams 'WOKE'!

It Smith decides to offer it in either 4" and 6", I'd be their Huckelberry.

In the meantime, like you, my 4" Smith M617 10-shot 22LR will continue to see field duty. One of my most favored rimfire handguns.

Matt......

Kinda......sorta like my old 6" 648......except I added an old S&W 0.5" wide target hammer and 0.5" wide target trigger......and Millet target rear sight.
There was some action work involved too.....😎
